Lucio Saffaro (Trieste 1929, Bologna 1998) was an important Italian painter. Passionate lover of mathematics and physics, in his work he sought a constant intersection with the themes of contemporary science that led him to explore the concepts of time and space in depth.

The museum exhibits about one hundred drawings, lithographs and oil paintings made available by the Lucio Saffaro Foundation. Founded in 1999 by the artist's will, in addition to the conservation and cataloging of artistic and literary works, it takes care of their cultural enhancement by promoting exhibitions, publications and various types of initiatives.
